PCMTec Flashing Hardware Requirements

As per the guide above, there are various J2534 cables available for use with the software. If you need to switch between the modes or are not flashing from your PC is is recommended to use 64 bit mode.

32-bit vs 64-bit PCMTec Editor

PCMTec Editor supports 64-bit mode.

It is limited to 32-bit mode when using a J2534 cable that only provides 32-bit J2534 drivers.

When in 32-bit mode, the RAM available to PCMTec Editor is severely limited, and therefore, it is possible to experience Out of Memory errors when logging or tuning.

The only cable currently supporting 64-bit drivers is the OBDX Pro FT

64-bit use is recommended for all customers

Changing Bit Mode

To change the software from 64-bit to 32-bit mode:

  1. Ensure you have the OBDX FT driver installed via the help menu (even if you do not wish to use it)
  2. Select options -> Tactrix/Mongoose compatibility (32-bit Editor)
  3. Select this option (the editor will restart automatically in 32 bit mode when ticked, otherwise it will use 64 bit mode (preferred)

Important Requirement

Install Tactrix Driver First: If the bit mode option is not visible in the software interface, ensure you have downloaded and installed the Tactrix driver. The bit mode selection option will become available after the driver installation is complete.

Download the Open Port Tactrix drivers here

Troubleshooting

If you cannot see the bit mode option: - Verify that the Tactrix driver is properly installed - Restart the software after driver installation - The option should then appear in the interface

Alternatively you can bypass this and manually set the shortcut properties yourself here by copying the shortcut, and creating a new one named PCMTEC Editor - X64, right click properties and change the target field to select X64. Be sure to make note of any other shortcut properties already in there and add 64.exe to the program for a slightly faster launch time.

"C:\Program Files (x86)\PCMTEC\Editor\PCMTec.Editor64.exe" x64
